BASE

On the first day of the BASIC course, after an introduction to anatomy and biomechanics, the pathophysiology of a cranio-mandibular disorder will be discussed in depth (with particular focus on the two most common conditions, namely disc displacement and locking), along with their assessment

The assessment used in the course follows the recommendations of the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD, an internationally validated and recognised procedure. You will receive a clinical record, decision-making algorithm and tool for measuring mandibular movements.

The second day focuses on the key relationships between the TMJ and the cervical spine and their mutual influences, as well as its relationship with the cranium and the most common symptom of TMD: headache.

Therapeutic exercises will be demonstrated for integration into patient treatment, both with the therapist and as “Home treatment”

Particular emphasis will also be placed on communication and behavioural approaches to use with patients with temporomandibular disorders
